Post-16 Department

getting down to serious study at collegeIn order to offer our Post 16 students the widest possible choice of courses, we have links with a number of local mainstream colleges.

Residential students are taken to college each morning in the school minibus and brought back to school at the end of the day.

While out at college they are well supported by a team of St John’s note-takers and have regular tutorials with our Teachers of the Deaf.

Learning To Achieve Their Full Potential
This year we have some students taking AS and A level courses and others studying a wide range of vocational courses e.g. Health and Social Care, Graphic Design, Fine Art, Animal Management, I.C.T. as well as Entry Level Craft Catering and pre-vocational Entry Level courses.

The students live in a self contained area of school where they have study bedrooms. As they progress through Post 16 they are encouraged to grow in independence through having opportunities to manage a small budget, to shop for and then cook some of their evening meals and also by learning to drive.
