Secondary Department

enough choice for all As well as offering breadth and balance, the curriculum in the secondary department is sufficiently differentiated to give all pupils the opportunity to achieve external accreditation at the end of Key Stage 4.

For some pupils this will mean taking a full range of GCSEs. Other students will take a combination of GSCEs and Entry Level Certificates or purely Entry Level Certificates.

Special Needs

For deaf children who have additional needs, we have devised a Special Needs Curriculum for Key Stages 3 and 4.

This comprises 18 language based modules that cover aspects of history, geography, science and English. The school’s reading programme is also incorporated into the programme.

Continuity
The modules occupy between 12 and 16 of the total number of lessons on the weekly timetable and because they are taught by only 2 teachers, the children have continuity of both content and approach.
